December 20, 2008: America’s financial astrologer Raymond Merriman

Invited by Schogt Market Timing, Ray Merriman was in The Netherlands on December 20, 2008 for his first public of ‘Forecasts for 2009’ book presentation.
In the field of financial astrology Raymond Merriman is the most prominent American who has done extensive research on more than 300 years of historical statistics that reveal a close correlation of planetary movements and market behavior. Since 1976 he writes a ‘Forecast book’ for the coming year, with expectations for the World politics, economy and Financial markets.
In his lecture that was followed by the audience almost breathlessly, he spoke about his Forecasts for 2009. The world is starting the year 2009 with hope, as it wants to quickly forget the damage of the last year. People are looking forward to the new US Preseident Obama who wants to inject lots of money in the economy. This great hope may cause “irrational exuberance” that can lift the stock markets higher in the fist half of the year. But seen from long-term perspective, this revival in 2009 is nothing more than a contemporary one, in a bear market that will last a number of years longer.
Because if it turns out that the Obama policies have got some sharp edges after all, if he is to raise taxes and interest rates, than this may kill the hope and faith for a sparkling future. The stock markets will follow the changing moods swiftly.
